Day 7: Monday May 19 - Fossil Exploration
The day started chilly (50 degrees), rainy and windy.

Nearby was the Big Lake park near the Lewis and Clark Memorial.

Emily picked me up at the hotel after a chilly night in her tent. Here's her tent site beside the Coralville Dam outflow of the Iowa River. Down below to her left.
Near the hotel was the world's largest wooden nickel.
Went back to the Tailwater campground for a Devonian fossil hike. Emily was dressed for the weather.
Left for next leg of trip to Council Bluffs, IA near Omaha. 250 miles. Sights along the way.
The Sinclair gas dinosaur.
Iowa has plenty of wind turbines.
In Council Bluffs we visited the Lewis and Clark Park and the local railroad museum.
Even Iowa has crazy signs. $100 fine or 30 days in jail for a parking violatiom outside the park hours.
A local cool bridge
